Talk is cheap when trying to define resilience. Forests have been cut down for books trying to adequately describe this much needed character trait. A recent image did that for me.
Yesterday we were having coffee therapy at a shopping centre. A fellow in a wheelchair pulled up to a table near us. His friend ensured he was safely parked and it was then I noticed a dog had settled next to his wheelchair. My wife said, "That's his Guide Dog." It answered my definition of resilience. A man needing a wheelchair and a Guide Dog getting out for his morning coffee. He could have easily stayed home in bed but chose to get out into his day with the help and company of his friend and dog. He has no idea how helpful he was to me and still is.
